THE CONCEPT
The Foursite Film Institute Youth Summer Workshop is aimed at children ages 13-17. The purpose is to give the students the opportunity to explore their academic, artistic and career options and to encourage them to seek higher education. This enrichment program will be offered to the students as a benefit of an "enthusiast" level membership with all materials and supplies provided by the Institute. FFI will work directly with the teachers and school counselors to qualify their students based on their interest in filmmaking as a story-telling medium.

THE PRESENT
A recent two-week workshop included the participation of nine students and five instructors. The workshop was two weeks long. The result was a three-minute film which was shown along with other films at the Ogden Arts Festival to more than 250 attendees.

THE VISION
As this program continues to grow, more students from along the Wasatch Front will seek to participate. A program such as this could be built into summer school for out-of-state youth as well as a full staff of local filmmakers who will guide these students through the creative process.

Imagine a handful of films being produced in a three-week period by dozens of students. This program is not limited to one workshop per year. As the program grows, this program could reach out to students across the nation and be made available through scholarships.
